Pupil Voice
At Estfeld, we believe that it is vital that pupils have their voice heard and contribute to the running of our school and also the wider community. Each year, we hold elections for School Councillors and Wellbeing Ambassadors. We also encourage our pupils to apply to be Junior Civic Mayor or a Primary Ambassador.
School Council
Each class is represented by two school councillors with Reception and Year One's representatives being from Year Six. Pupils do a speech for their peers and then an election is held. The elected children have regular meetings and contribute to many school events such as the Christmas fair, charity days and also attend services in the community such as the Remembrance service. Miss Brough and Miss Mee work closely with our school councillors to enable them to organise projects and fundraising activities.
Wellbeing Ambassadors
There are 15 wellbeing ambassadors in school. These are children from across school who have applied for the position using the With Me in Mind form and were selected by With Me in Mind and school staff. These pupils are present on both playgrounds to support with playtime games, helping children find someone to play with and resolving minor disagreements. The wellbeing ambassadors also have regular meetings to discuss any changes that they feel they can implement to improve the wellbeing of our pupils. They also have projects such as our 'friendship benches' that they work on to help support other pupils. With Me in MInd have helped train these pupils and they are led by Mrs Gregory, our child and family support worker.
Inclusion Ambassadors
Our inclusion ambassadors have been selected personally by the group of parents who work closely with Mrs Gregory each week. These parents held an assembly for the school, sharing the role of an inclusion ambassador and their importance in ensuring that all pupils feel a firm sense of belonging at Estfeld.
Tickhill's Junior Mayor
For the first time this year, Tickhill has elected a junior mayor from each of the two primary schools. Clay was successfully nominated and elected as Estfeld's mayor and he is working with Tickhill Town Council to help improve facilities in the area for young people.
Primary Ambassadors
Doncaster is one of the first cities to have a panel of children who represent primary school pupils in the area. These children are called the Primary Ambassadors and are all from Year Five. Children in year Four are asked to apply for the role of Junior Mayor/Primary Ambassador in summer term and the selection process takes place during the summer holidays.
In September, there is a robing ceremony for the Junior Mayor and the ten Primary Ambassadors. We are very proud that our school has had successful applicants for these roles each year.
Primary ambassadors participate in many events in Doncaster throughout the year as well as attending meetings to help implement change in the area. This year we have one pupil from Year Five representing Estfeld as a primary ambassador. Laura has participated in many events, most notably being the junior host for the Doncaster Schools PE and Sport conference in March 2026.
