Equality Objectives for the period September 2025 - July 2029
Objective 1
To monitor and increase the involvement of all groups of children in the extra-curricular life of the school, including leadership opportunities, with particular attention given to children who are eligible for Pupil Premium and children with special educational needs.
Why we have chosen this objective: It is important that all pupils have equal access to additional areas of responsibility and extra-curricular activities. This can require additional staffing, resources or careful consideration.
To achieve this objective, we plan to: Review registers/records from previous academic year and identify groups of pupils not accessing extra curricular life in line with the school average.
Progress we are making towards this objective: New objective - will review mid year
Objective 2
To promote cultural understanding and awareness of different religious beliefs between different ethnic groups within our school community.
Why we have chosen this objective: Doncaster's Agreed Syllabus has been renewed and is now Believing and Belonging from September 2025. As this is new to school and is a significant change, it is vital that we ensure the mandatory elements are taught and supplemented with the optional units which are best suited to our community's needs.
To achieve this objective, we plan to: Attend and disseminate CPD related to the Believing and Belonging syllabus and carefully plan how to implement it at Estfeld. We will then monitor the implementation closely to ensure pupils are gaining a good understanding of different religions and beliefs.
Progress we are making towards this objective: New objective - will review mid year
Objective 3
To close gaps in attainment and achievement between all children and children who are disadvantaged – i.e. they are looked after and/or they are eligible for Pupil Premium.
Why we have chosen this objective: Our assessment analysis shows that there is a gap in attainment between pupil premium, LAC and SEND and our school average for all pupils.
To achieve this objective, we plan to: Target support at pupils who are working below the expected standard and who are disadvantaged.
Progress we are making towards this objective: New objective - will review mid year
Objective 4
Train all members of staff and governors involved in recruitment and selection on equal opportunities and non-discrimination by the beginning of the next academic year. Training evaluation data will show that 100% of those attending have a good understanding of the legal requirements.
Why we have chosen this objective: Staff and governors have not had equal opportunity training in relation to recruitment and it is vital that our recruitment processes are fair and non-discriminatory.
To achieve this objective, we plan to: Train all staff and governors who are involved in recruitment on equal opportunities and non-discrimination.
Progress we are making towards this objective: New objective - will review mid year
