Class One have started their new topic 'On Safari' by looking at the book 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Browne. They arrived at school to find their own surprise basket of fruit. Sharing the book together, the children talked about what they could see and what they thought was happening before reading it. Class One were very excited to discover the African animals were taking the fruit from Handa's basket. Working together they created a map to show the journey Handa went on to take the fruit to her friend, Akeyo. Mrs Slack, Mrs Booker and Miss Mee have lots of exciting activities planned to continue making the children's learning fun this half term.
Class One have been doing work about questions and they took on the role of interviewer, Handa and Akeyo. The children had to ask each other questions.
This display showcases some of the fantastic work produced by Class One based on Handa's Surprise. I think you will agree that it looks incredibly effective.
Here is some of the children's finished writing. What amazing work Class One!
