This week Reception have continued learning about Minibeasts but have been focusing on the text 'The Very Busy Spider' by Eric Carle. They have been using their talk for writing strategies this week and you will be able to see the story map and some pictures of the children using the actions to help them remember the story really well. They have been planning their writing this week, thinking about changes they can make to the story, adding in some new animals, but keeping in the style of the author. This isn't easy, but Reception have done a fantastic job. What animals would you add into the story if you could?

Reception have been very busy in their Maths learning too.  They have been using the part whole model to show the relationship between numbers and you can see some pictures of the children using them independently with some practical activities. They have also been showing their understanding of doubling by doubling the spots on the ladybirds and recording that working out too.

Finally, you may spot some amazing and imaginative spiders webs made using wool on a paper plate. The children then made their own spider to add to the web, matching the colours to those used by Eric Carle in his illustrations in the Busy Spider book.
